Today is January 1st, 2022. I've set some goals for myself for this year. Not quite resolutions, per se, but still things I'm looking to achieve. Or ideally, exceed. As mentioned in the last “Blog” Post, I have been working on a novella set in the world of Kamirell. I was hoping to get it out for the end of 2021, however that obviously hasn't happened. As such, before getting to any of the goals I am about to talk about, I am going to do everything I can to get that completed within the next two to three weeks. I have a completed first draft, and completed an initial set of content edits. Still ahead of me is ensuring all grammar and spelling is corrected, getting some beta readers to root out any tonal or consistency issues and final formatting before I get it out.

Now, after that, I have an additional set of goals to complete this year. First and foremost, I want to complete the novel I am about half way through writing. I'm 19 chapters into the first draft, with a current outline which contains 33 chapters. I haven't worked on it in a few months now as I've hit a bit of a lull in my motivation for that particular project. However, I've recently gotten some interest back and want to push myself to take advantage of it.

Alongside the novel, I want to write a second novella. I'm unsure as to whether or not it will be set in Kamirell, or one of the new worlds I want to begin building. (more on that in a moment) However, after completing the first draft of this current novella, I really enjoyed the process of working my way through the shorter format. That being said, I would love to get to two or three novellas, as the process for this one only really took about two months thus far, however I don't want to set the bar too high and wind up getting discouraged, so I'm only going to commit to one more right now.

My third goal for 2022 is to complete a minimum of six short stories (5-10k words). As of right now, I think I'm going to make these all part of a series of short stories. That may not remain the case, but one of my story ideas for Kamirell would fit really well with the format of a series of short stories. (Treasure Transport) The goal will be to space them out fairly evenly, meaning I will be looking to get one out approximately every two months.

Finally, as alluded to earlier, as well as in the previous post, I am looking to finally start expanding beyond Kamirell. Now, while I don't have any specific plans for how many new worlds I want to expand into, what they will look like or what I might use them for, however I do believe I'm fairly set on what exactly that first new world is going to look like. I don't want to get into it here, as I do want to do one more major update for Kamirell before I get started with it, but I'm really looking forward do it, as I believe it will allow me to go in a lot of different directions which Kamirell doesn't currently allow.
