The Birthing of The Old Gods
As the universe formed in a violent and tumultuous fury, out of it came the Old Gods in two kinds. The Fundamentals brought unto the universe its primordial powers. Later, the Elder Gods took those powers and used them to make the contents of the universe.
These two groups of cosmic entities were borne of the same chaotic powers, however their actions in those first moments of creation set them apart forever. The Fundamentals looked at the chaos and saw order within it. They sought to realize that order. The Elder Gods, at first, saw only chaos. However, as the order emerged before them, they saw all of the possibilities of what could come to be.
The Fundamentals Create The Primordial Forces
After coming into being, when the Fundamentals looked into the heart of eternity they saw the inherent order possible through the chaos. These gods sought to realize this order. To do so, they formed the primordial powers of the universe.
First came Power. Power took hold of the heart of creation and brought forth the energies which make up the universe.
Next came Creation. Creation harnessed that energy for form the primal æther which acts as the clay to be molded into reality.
Next came Formation. Formation utilizes the æther of creation and forms the material and energy that makes up the universe.
Next came Animation. Animation introduced change into the universe, resulting in the flow of time.
Next came Destruction. Destruction began breaking down the materials and energies back into primal æther to be recycled into new creations.
Finally came Death. Death manifests as the end of all things. It consumes the primal æther and once it has consumed it all, it will return it to chaos.
The Elder Gods Use The Primordial Fores To Shape The Worlds
After the manifest of the primordial powers, the Elder Gods took hold of these new powers in order to populate the universe with, first, stars, then planets, and eventually life.
Every star and every planet they built was an experiment. Eventually, they built Haleon. This was the ultimate culmination of their work. Here they made life. First, they grew plants out of the soil. Next, they created the fauna that roam the land.
The First Mortals Are Created
The Elder Gods created, amongst the flora and fauna they had thus far populated the world with, the first mortals. The gods experimented with the creation of different shapes and forms, different strengths and weaknesses. Eventually, these creatures would come to be known only in the myths and legends of humanity.
Every emergence of new life was infused with a small spark of primal æther. This ensured that none would live forever, as all such would eventually be consumed by Death.
The Elder Gods Create Paradise
Content with the product of the machinations, the Elder Gods left the mortal realm, and moved instead to build a home for themselves from where they could stand back and allow their creations to expand across the world and grow into what they knew they could become.
They built a paradise for themselves to live in, where they could observe the mortal realm.
The Young Gods Are Born
Seeing the creatures they created grow and form connections that they themselves were incapable of made the Elder Gods long for such things. This was the final piece missing from their paradise.
The gods brought into their paradise new gods, their children. These Young Gods, came into the wondrous world of this paradise and lived in harmony with their parents for centuries. However, they eventually grew restless watching the mortal realm, but forbidden from ever visiting it.
The Elder Gods Are Overthrown
The Young Gods grew resentful of their parents. They wished to go and experience the world which they built, and were sick and tired of excuses as to why they were forbidden. A group of young gods banded together to overthrow their parents. Other young gods stood in resistance, but they were too few in number to stop them.
The Elder Gods put up little resistance as their children came to oust them from paradise and attempt to destroy them. The young gods severed the bonds which held their paradise together, causing all of the gods to fall from grace.
The Young Gods Descend Upon Haleon
The Young Gods descended upon Haleon like children into a bin of toys. They were immediately fascinated with theses fragile creations and the mortals were just as fascinated with them. The mortals began to worship the young gods and they, in return, granted them boons. For a long time, these gods were patronized by the mortals and this brought the gods great satisfaction. They scoffed at the warnings they received from their parents as only good had come from their descent.
Havoc And Destruction Are Wrought Upon Haleon
After some time ruling over Haleon, the Young Gods grew disillusioned. The worship of their people meant less than it had before. First, they began to command their followers in holy wars against those who worshipped their siblings and cousins. Eventually an outright war of the gods broke out.
However, soon after the gods began to fight, the first of them fell. When this happened, and consequences to their actions became real, they blames the mortals for coming between them. The young gods then worked to wreak havoc upon the mortals, wiping some species out of existence entirely. Driving most of them to near extinction.
The Young Gods Leave In An Attempt To Find A New Paradise
Now done with the world of Haleon, the Young Gods leave the world behind. Having destroyed the paradise they once called home, they sought to find a new home where they could once again be at peace. They tried to create it anew, but without the assistance of their parents, they was no chance they there were going to be able to remake what once was.
The family of gods fell divided, some heading out into the cosmos, others building worlds of their own, forever trying to recreate what was lost.
Humanity Emerges
From the ashes of the destruction which the Young Gods wrought upon Haleon, a new mortal species crawled out of the dirt. Unlike the other species, which had been hand crafted by the gods, this species evolved from the beasts of Haleon. Humanity emerged on the continent of Kanapra.
This new, simple, species were born with no understanding of the world which they have come into. They know nothing of the gods, or the other mortal creatures which ruled this land for millennia before they arrived. Naively, humans believed themselves to be alone in this world. But soon, some humans would learn the secrets of this world. Secrets of gods and magic and creatures of myth and legend.
